REDACTION

Redact a screenshot so nothing survives underneath.

One local scan, six kinds of finding: emails, phones, cards, keys, faces, and codes. The scan helps you catch sensitive content, it does not guarantee it, and findings do not apply themselves. What you accept becomes a plate. The file you export destroys the pixels under it, and an export that cannot prove the plate covers its whole region refuses to write the file.

HOW TO

  1. 1

A capture is saved and copied the moment you take it, and the scan follows on this Mac. Open the editor from the corner card, by its thumbnail or Edit.

  2. 2

The findings panel lists what the scan found. Accept them one at a time, or redact all. The scan can miss things, so redact is also a rail tool: press R and drag a block over anything it did.

  3. 3

Copy or Export. If the current redaction set is not yet approved, a sheet asks first and offers Cancel and either Flatten and copy or Flatten and export. Exporting flattens a copy; the redaction stays liftable in the editor by undo or from the findings panel.

WHAT A REDACTION IS

PLATE

An opaque plate with an etched hatch. Deliberately un-pretty, and nothing of the source survives underneath it in the file you export.

PROOF

If Gamendori cannot prove a redaction covers its whole region in whole device pixels, it refuses to write the file rather than give you a half-redacted image.

LIFTABLE

Exporting flattens a copy rather than baking your document, so the redaction stays liftable from the findings panel or by undo, though it is never dragged or resized.
