MEASURE

A ruler and a pixel loupe inside the capture reticle.

Anchor a point and the distance follows your cursor, sample a color as hex, and count pixels on a square loupe with a hard grid. Enter copies the values as text. Measure mode produces measurements, not files.

HOW TO

  1. 1

Press the area capture shortcut (Control Shift 2 unless you changed it) for the reticle, then M for measure. Measure has no global shortcut; M is its key inside the reticle.

  2. 2

Click to anchor a point (a click in the reticle's first instant, while the screen freezes, is ignored). The readout follows your cursor on that display: DX, DY, and the straight-line distance, in points.

  3. 3

Enter copies the values as text, with the color under the cursor as hex when there is one. Escape lifts the anchor first; a second Escape dismisses the reticle. Both keys act on the display the cursor is on, so return to the anchor's display first.

WHAT IT READS

READOUT

DX, DY, and D: the horizontal, vertical, and straight-line distance from the anchor to the cursor, in points.

LOUPE

A square loupe with a hard grid, so single device pixels can be counted, with the color under the cursor as hex and its pixel coordinates.

COPY

Enter copies the values as text. Measure mode produces measurements, not files: no capture file is saved.
